The Second International Conference on Functional Biology is organised by the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics (IPPG) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Section “Plant Physiology and Biochemistry” of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria.
Today, the Institute of Plant Physiology and Genetics is recognised as a national centre for fundamental and applied research with strong expertise in plant biology. By the integration of plant physiology, biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology combined with interdisciplinary approaches and active national and international collaborations, IPPG continues to advance the frontiers of functional biology because plants, it turns out, have a lot more to say than we once thought.
This conference will present recent advances aligned with the main research directions of IPPG – from Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, Genetics and Cell and Molecular Biology to Biotechnologies, Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, and their relevance to Agrobiology and Food Science, but will encourage dialogue with related disciplines. It aims to bring together researchers and experts to explore the diverse applications of functional biology across disciplines. Contributions extending beyond plant science are warmly welcome – the more perspectives around the table, the better the science, and the livelier the coffee breaks.
